Excel replace carriage return with space11/30/2022 ![]() ![]() The example above is just a small set of the data per row. By combining it with the CHAR Function, we can find and replace line breaks with a single space. Note: the data is much longer that 255 characters per row. The SUBSTITUTE function finds and replaces text in a cell. So the result needs to be: 60 W 0 N J T 14790002 - Handels CRLF ![]() The incorrect CRLF (line break) needs to be removed and the data that was on the next row needs to be concatenated. I tried to use the RegEx tool (formula to remove any CRLF that is not followed by a digit and a semicolon: Replace: ^( \s) ) but it doesn't concatenate the 2 rows back together again.ĭata looks like: 60 W 0 N J T 14790002 - Handels CRLF I followed the special instructions for importing this type of file into Excel with no success. retain y '' infile 'd:/input.txt' dsd truncover input x ycatx (' ',y, x) /concat every line seperated by a space/ run data null set inp endEOF FILE d:input2.txt / Output Text File / if eof. Carriage Returns in Data Exports I performed a data export from the app using the UTF-8 encoding and found that my carriage returns in the Billing Address field have been converted into spaces (I havent checked the other fields). However, I need to concatenate the (two or more) rows that had a false line break as well. I would suggest you just read the textfile line by line and then concat the lines together. I have installed version 10.5.9 and used the Data Cleanser like in the screenshot above. ![]()
